One of the last EUCTI training courses in 2022 concluded on this week. Strategic and Crisis Communication online training was implemented in three parts by The Clingendael Institute and focused on Press and Public Information (PPI) experts coming from EU Advisory Mission in Ukraine (EUAM Ukraine) and those working for international organizations active in the field of civilian crisis management in the region.
The first part on 19 October focused on the developments inside a so-called rhetorical arena. On 26 October 10 participants engaged in the discussion on dis- and misinformation, while the topic of the last part on 2 November was designing a crisis communication plan with various tools that they learned to use in the previous two parts. You can read more about each part HERE.
The very motivated group of PPIs who participated in this online training very much welcomed the initiative and topic and reiterated their need to have this kind of training. In their current difficult situation, they valued the most the discussion on countering the spread of mis- and disinformation. They were able to bring their own experience and practical cases they encountered to the discussion and as such made it even more relevant. The participants also pointed out the necessity of creating synergies between crisis communication and countering disinformation under the umbrella of strategic communication.
