Our Italian partner Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna from Pisa, Italy, will organise an online training course on Advising in Civilian Crisis Management missions for personnel of EU Border Assistance Mission in Libya (EUBAM Libya) and other relevant international peacekeeping organisations operating in the country and region. The course will take place from the 16th until the 19th of October 2023.
This is already the second training on (strategic) advising, organised under the EUCTI umbrella this year, with one more in the pipeline for November. The need of international peace missions and operations for this type of training clearly reflects the current global security landscape. Numerous multifaceted threats require experts to build their capacities to make informed choices for the international community as well as act as resource persons for their counterparts in local institutions.
The presence of prepared professionals who can impart their expertise and abilities to their colleagues and local counterparts is essential for the success of peace missions and operations to stabilise the situation and manage crises. Therefore, the main goal of the upcoming training is to improve the skills of professionals serving in advisory roles in civilian crisis management missions.
Through various individual and group assignments, daily recap sessions and sessions, the participants will explore the context of advising in civilian crisis management and delve into the principles and processes of capacity building through advising. Furthermore, they will use the gained knowledge to integrate advising into the mission structure.
We are looking forward to welcoming the participants to the training and equipping them with the necessary knowledge to help them fulfil their tasks more efficiently and with greater confidence.
